SAT Academy

After the SAT left Russia, I started an online school to prepare Russian students for it. It is a registered sole proprietorship with lawyer-drafted terms and privacy policy, and all taxes paid. I wrote all the SAT Math materials, teach the Math course, built the website and keep the books.

  • 400+ students since launch, 78 now, always a waiting list for trial lessons
  • 257 scored 1450+; this year 200+ applied abroad and 80+ won full scholarships
  • A team of 14: me and 13 teachers and staff; $120,000+ revenue in 2026
  • Admin of Math 800, a Telegram community of 1,000+ SAT students

What can neonatal mouse models tell us about autism?

Autism is diagnosed at 3–4, yet few mouse studies test newborns. With Dr. Katlynd Reese of Kent State University, I ran structured PubMed and Google Scholar searches, sorted 32 papers’ data by developmental age across four mechanisms (E/I imbalance, serotonin, GABA shift, oxytocin), and found the oxytocin–GABA evidence best supported early.

  • Published in the Oxford Journal of Student Scholarship, October 2026
  • Full Lumiere scholarship ($3,190), all publication fees waived
  • Rated “Excellent” in all four criteria by my mentor

“Among the best I have encountered (Top 5%). I would absolutely recommend Iulia apply to top universities.”Dr. Katlynd Reese, Kent State University

NeuroLanguage

Special centres in Arkhangelsk have few places, so most autistic children attend regular schools. I turned the 4 printed primary-school English textbooks used locally into interactive web lessons with video, read-along and exercises, so children meet the material before each school lesson.

  • Used by 100+ families
  • Developed further as my capstone for AFS Global STEM Accelerators, evaluated by Penn’s Center for Social Impact Strategy and AFS
  • Advanced Certificate on Global Citizenship for Social Impact, January 2024

Inclusive Academy

Online English lessons for children with disabilities. I had 12 students, and my first lesson ended in tears. I studied how autistic children communicate, built visual supports and games, and every lesson after ended in smiles. Then I shared my framework with the other volunteers.

  • Recognised by Inclusive Academy and the Republican Parents’ Union of Children with Special Needs
  • Our team became a finalist in a United Nations competition

Lifting for Women

I founded a free barbell club for girls at two high schools and coached 50+ of them in safe squat technique as a certified trainer at Fitness House gym. For three years I also ran anchor for my school’s team at Arkhangelsk’s citywide May relay.

Behind the counter

I grew up in Moldova until 11 while my parents worked in Russia. In Arkhangelsk I spent afternoons and school breaks at my mother’s stall in the Central Market, selling slippers, bags and suitcases and loading the van. At 14 I took over its online sales during COVID-19.

The market was sold in March 2026. My mother now travels to fairs across the region, and my SAT Academy income helps support the family and pays for my sisters’ education.

“My parents never got the chance to study. I have it, so I use every bit of it and help others get theirs.”
